A reader noticed that a project page opened with a description in Chinese. This is what it was and what we did.
Cause. The one-line description at the top of a project page comes from the repository's own GitHub description, inserted as-is when the project is first discovered. The nightly sync updates stars and forks but never rewrites that field. So a repository whose maintainers wrote their description in Chinese, Japanese or Korean kept it, on an English page.
Scale. 2,213 project descriptions were in CJK scripts: 2,115 Chinese, 32 Japanese, 28 Korean. The English summary field used by the page was affected for 2,111 of them.
Fix (2026-10-09). All of them were rewritten in English, preserving the project's own name. The previous values are backed up, so nothing is lost if a translation is wrong. A handful of titles that contain a project's Chinese name alongside the English one, like "VESTI (心迹)", were kept deliberately; that is the project's name.
Not yet done. About 950 published articles quote README text in their body, and some of those quotes are in Chinese. Those are quotations, so the question is whether to translate or to mark them; we have not decided. New projects discovered from now on with a non-English description will still come in as written until the discovery step gets a translation pass, which is the real fix.
If you see one, reply with the project address and we will handle it with the next batch.
