Chinese Independent Developer: a running log of indie projects

A pull request maintained list of projects from Chinese independent developers, with new entries logged by date and status icons for launched, in progress, and abandoned work.

Why the list exists

The README starts from a simple kind of curiosity. Developers wonder what other people are building on the side, whether the goal is profit, fun, or an experiment. The repository exists to answer that, and the opening makes it clear the author built it to see everyone else's hobby projects too.

How a project gets in

Adding a project is a pull request or an issue away. There is one hard rule: the entry must be a website or an app. Developer tools and forum style sites do not qualify. The README spells this out so the list does not drift into yet another collection of frameworks.

The status markers

Each entry carries a status icon from a small table. The three states are in development, launched, and closed or lacking maintenance. The README documents these at the top, so readers can tell at a glance whether a project is a live product or a retired one.

What the 2026 entries look like

The recent additions read like a snapshot of solo development. One entry is a local file metadata cleaner that handles images, PDFs, Office, and text without uploading anything to the cloud. Another is an AI movie finder that guesses a film from plot, scene, dialogue, screenshots, or actor clues. A seating chart generator for weddings and parties exports PNG or PDF, and a browser plugin offers bilingual web translation with YouTube subtitles.

The range of projects

Beyond those, the list runs wide. There are macOS media conversion tools, AI image and video workbenches, gamepad and scroll wheel testers, an online protractor, a Chrome extension that rewrites hostile comments, and a task breaker with focus rooms. The README also logs an AI tarot and self exploration tool, a stylized city map designer that covers over 500 cities, and an Android privacy sharing tool. Individually they are small. Together they form a fairly honest picture of what independent developers in this space are actually shipping.
