Awesome Awesomeness: an index of the awesome lists

Awesome Awesomeness does one thing: point at other curated lists. It splits them into programming languages and general topics, so the whole file reads like a table of contents for the awesome universe.

DEEP OPEN-SOURCE ANALYSIS

A directory of directories

The whole repository is a list whose entries are other lists. Programming languages get their own section, covering Clojure, Common Lisp, Erlang, Lua, .NET, Python, Ruby, Swift, and TypeScript. Each name links out to a curated collection for that language, so the page is less a source of content and more a signpost to the right neighborhood. It is the oldest kind of awesome project, a hand maintained list, and its entire value proposition is that a human has already done the sorting.

The general shelf

The second section is broader and a bit random in the best way: accessibility, APIs, big data, blockchain, Bitcoin and Ethereum, books, cryptography, data science with Python, datasets, deep learning, frontend, GIFs, guides, hacking, Mac, newsletters, protocols, Raspberry Pi, SEO, Vim, and XMPP. If a topic has an awesome list worth keeping, it is probably filed somewhere in here. Each entry links to a curated list for its topic, and together they cover the areas people keep asking about.

What the metadata says

The repository lists Ruby as its primary language, carries no recorded license, and dates back to 2014. It is a small file that mostly organizes links, and its usefulness depends entirely on the lists it points to. Because the file is just links, it stays easy to skim, and the missing license matches its role as a simple index rather than a piece of software. As a starting point for discovery, that is exactly the point.
