Three AI coding tools changed hands this year: Windsurf to Devin, Tabnine to Tricentis, Continue to Cursor

When we built the AI Tool Finder we had one rule: no price or claim goes live from memory. On 2026-10-04 an automated pass read each vendor's own pricing page. For the coding category, three results were not price changes but product changes:

  • Windsurf: windsurf.com/pricing answers with a permanent redirect to devin.ai/pricing, and windsurf.com/ to devin.ai/desktop. The destination never mentions Windsurf.
  • Tabnine: tabnine.com redirects to tricentis.com, and /pricing lands on a "Contact us" sales page. Public reporting puts the acquisition at 2026-07-30. There is no self-serve price any more.
  • Continue: continue.dev now carries the title "Continue (acquired by Cursor)" and describes the project in the past tense. The code is still open source; the commercial pricing page is gone.

We did not try to guess what each product becomes. The three are held back as drafts in the Finder with a note on why, rather than published with the last known price. A tool page with a stale price is worse than no tool page.

If you use any of the three: what did your account turn into? Did the Windsurf editor keep working, and does Continue still ship extension updates? Replies with first-hand detail will shape what we write on those pages when they come back.

Practical side for anyone whose tool just changed owner: the open-source agents on this site have no acquirer to worry about. Aider (terminal), Cline (VS Code, Apache 2.0) and the vendor CLIs that are open source, Gemini CLI and Codex CLI, cover the same ground. /compare/cline-vs-continue is the direct swap if you were on Continue. The model bill moves to you, which is its own topic.

Question rather than answer: does anyone know whether the Windsurf editor itself still receives releases under the Devin name, or whether the redirect is the whole story? The redirect target is a different kind of product (an autonomous agent rather than an editor), so the two may coexist for a while.

We do not know, and the page will say so until someone with an account tells us. That is the whole reason it is a draft.
